Julianne Hough Ready For ‘Challenge’ Of Diablo Cody Film

add link: Julianne Hough is building quite the film résumé. In the big-screen adaptation of Broadway musical “Rock of Ages”, the triple threat sings and dances alongside Tom Cruise. But for her next role, she’ll get to show off a serious side as a religious woman who begins to question everything she believes in.

“I’m actually in pre-production right now and I go to New Orleans in about three weeks and start shooting,” Hough told MTV News of the upcoming Diablo Cody film. “It’s really cool. It’s very different than anything I’ve done and anything that people [have] seen me do.”

As the leading lady in Cody’s still-untitled project (originally called “Lamb of God”), Hough’s character suffers a crisis of faith after surviving a tragic accident. She begins to live a life of sin in, well, Sin City, before finding God again. Hough revealed a bit more about the kind of pain and strife she’ll have to act out in the film.

“It’s strictly acting — no singing or dancing,” she said. “In fact, I’m way more restricted in physicality because I actually play a girl that’s been burned over two-thirds of her body, so I don’t have a lot of movement, which is very different for me. So I’m excited. [It's] a big challenge and I like that. I have all the expression from my physicality trapped up [and it's] going to really help my emotion, I think.”

Another thing that may ease her acting challenges is reuniting with “Rock of Ages” co-star Russell Brand in Cody’s flick. “I’m super excited because in ‘Rock of Ages’ … we had scenes together, but we never actually spoke to each other in the scenes,” she explained. “So it’ll be a whole new thing.”

“Ages,” which also stars a pitch-perfect Tom Cruise, Catherina Zeta-Jones and Alec Baldwin, opens in June. Hough’s dance flick “Footloose” hits DVD on March 6.

Rick Ross Has No Beef With Pill

God Forgives, I Don’t may be the name of Rick Ross‘ upcoming LP, but the Bawse isn’t as coldhearted as his album title may suggest. When it comes to former Maybach Music affiliate Pill, Rozay wishes the Atlanta MC all the best.

“I’m a real dude and I’m a real boss and once you rep the MMG flag, I’ll never step on your feet; I’mma give you a pass anyway,” Ross told MTV News correspondent Sway Calloway of Pill while at French Montana’s “Shot Caller” remix video shoot in Miami on Sunday.

In December, P-I-Double L took to Twitter to vent about his label situation with Warner Music Group, blaming WMG for his lack of radio and television support. Because of his prominent appearance on Maybach Music’s Self Made Vol. 1 compilation, many believed that Pill was signed to Ross’ label, but in an exclusive interview with MTV News in January, Pill revealed that he was never technically signed to Rozay and that his deal went strictly through MMG’s parent company, Warner.

“Pill’s situation was a special situation because he was already signed to Warner before I did my label deal at Warner. So when I did do my deal, it was a business opportunity that was presented where Pill could run with the team for a year,” Ross confirmed. “I took that opportunity. That year ran its course and it was pretty much up to Warner what decisions they wanted to make with Pill as an artist after that point. I think they made it.”

Pill told MTV News in January that he was working on getting a release from Warner and made it clear that he had no problems with anyone in MMG personally — though he did say that he and Ross didn’t speak very often. “I ain’t got nothing against none of them, nobody. It’s just the situation don’t work,” Pill said matter-of-factly. “It’s cool with us, I don’t got nothing against Ross either. It’s just I don’t talk to him.”

Some believed that Pill’s outspokenness would anger the Boss, but Rozay didn’t take any of it to heart. “He made sure he reached out to me and called me and clarified,” Ross said. “He expressed that in no way was he disrespecting the team or the brand, because it’s a great opportunity and a great look.”

As far as why the “Trap Goin’ Ham” rapper’s situation didn’t work out, Ross thought the young MC just needed a hit record and a little luck to build his momentum. He used the success of MMG’s Meek Mill and Wale to exemplify his point. “Certain things happen for certain people at certain times and none of us could really predict that,” he explained. “I couldn’t predict that Meek Mill would bring ‘Ima Boss’ to me or we couldn’t predict that Wale would bring ‘That Way.’ ”

Even though Pill and WMG are now going their separate ways, Ross is looking forward to seeing his former Maybach affiliate rack up a win. “Hopefully, in the future he’ll bring him a hit record, and get him some paper and do his thing,” he said. “I wish him much success.”

Taking care of a media appearance, Ashley Greene was spotted at ?Live with Kelly? in New York City this morning (February 3).

The ?Twilight Saga: New Moon? babe looked gorgeous in a long grey winter coat as she greeted fans and headed inside the Lincoln Square studios.

During a recent interview, Ashley confessed that when she first arrived in Tinseltown to become a star, she had to forgo the party scene in favor of her career.

“I was like ‘Oh, I can go out and do this and do that,’ and it took me about five seconds to realize ‘If you do that, you’re not going to book jobs, and there are 10,000 girls who want your job.? It’s all glitz and glamour in Hollywood, and you want to be part of it. With awards season in full gear, a number of the music industry's biggest names headed out to Palais des Festivals on the French Riviera in Cannes for the NRJ Awards. Adele, Rihanna and Justin Bieber all walked away with trophies.

Adele won two awards, taking home International Revelation of the Year and International Song of the Year for "Someone Like You." LMFAO also walked away with two prizes: Music Video of the Year for "Party Rock Anthem" as well as International Group/Duo of the Year. The guys performed the song at the show along with their party track "Sexy and I Know It." Rihanna won International Female Artist and later took to Twitter to thank everyone for the recognition. "Thank you NRJ and my #FRENCHNavy and all the fans who voted, for your immense support!" she wrote. "I love you always #InternationalFemaleOftheYearNRJ." Shakira won the NRJ Award of Honor, and Bieber took home the male version of the award. The teen star took the stage in his baby blue printed jacket and black jeans, telling the room, "I'm just really excited to be here. I want to thank all my fans for being so amazing. I want to do another French song. I did one French song but I want to do some more French and hopefully perfect. My grandma's first language is French." He later tweeted, "I never thought i would ever get out of stratford and now im celebrating in france. never gets old. ALWAYS grateful! #Ilovemyfans" Other winners included Francophone (French) Revelation of the Year for Keen V and Francophone Male Artist of the Year for M. Pokora. Mika won the International Male Artist of the Year while Shy'm took it home for Francophone Female Artist of the Year. Francophone Song of the Year went to "A Nos Actes Manqués" performed by M Pokora. Simple Plan and Marie-Mai nabbed Francophone Group/Duo of the Year while Mylène Farmer won NRJ Award of Diamond.
